If you must file a probate case for someone who left assets valued at more than $150,000, you are strongly encouraged to hire an attorney.  These cases can be complicated and require several hearings before the assets can be distributed.  There are no self-help forms available to probate a large estate on your own.  

The purpose of these probate cases is to pay off the estate's creditors and divide the assets amongst the devisees and heirs.  Generally, there are two kinds of 'large estate' probate types.

• General Administration is for cases valued at over $500,000.  This is the longest and most complicated probate process for an administration of an estate.
